The Vermont State Board of Education is conducting a national search for a Commissioner of Education who is a proven leader with a strong record of working with a board as well as key constituent groups. This individual needs to be a powerful communicator and a dynamic executive who has a bias for educational innovation and the ability to lead the effort to make certain that every child in Vermont receives a quality education.
Vermont statute requires that the Commissioner "shall have had special training and experience in educational work." The Board defines "educational work" in its broadest context.
Prospective candidates should submit a resume, a letter of application detailing how the candidate's previous experience has prepared them for this job, and the names of three references. Deadline for applications is October 1, 2008.
